Age Concern Leicester Shire and Rutland

Got a question for us? Just ask!

The Daytime Activities Service provides you with the support that you need in order to take part in day time activities of your choice.

The service will be of particular interest to older people who are using a Personal Budget or Direct Payment in order to meet their support needs.

Age Concern  will provide a personal assistant who will provide  support to access activities in the community and personal care  will be provided as part of the service.

You will normally be asked to agree to commit to a minimum of four sessions in advance.

What sort of things will I be able to do?

Your requirements will be discussed at an introductory assessment visit. The activities that you choose will depend upon  the outcomes that you wish to achieve and will also take into account what is practical and affordable. The introductory assessment visit will also  offer an opportunity to take  into account issues such as cost, access, risk,  and the level of support you will require.

How much does it cost?

We charge an hourly rate for a Personal Assistant.

Where relevant a charge will be made for transport. This will be based on the mileage that your Personal Assistant does in the course of getting you to and from the activity. Full details of charges will be provided on request.

You will receive a monthly invoice from Age Concern for this service. The invoice will be itemised to reflect the support that you have been provided with, for example, staff costs, transport etc.

If you wish to be accompanied to activities which incur an additional cost you may be expected to pay the expenses of your personal assistant. For example, if you were going to the cinema and needed to be accompanied during the show, you would be expected to cover the cost of both tickets.
