Charity Book Collection Hopes and Fears 19th September 2008

The success of their new bookshop in High Street East, Uppingham and the existing ones at 16 The Square, Market Harborough, 3 Wards End, Loughborough and 74 Queens Road, Leicester has necessitated Age Concern Leicester Shire & Rutland issuing an urgent  appeal for help to replenish stocks.

Commenting, the Executive Director of Age Concern, Mr Anthony Donovan, said "From the outset the philosophy was to provide quality books at bargain prices for people of all backgrounds and ages.  The sale of DVDs, videos, CDs and vinyl records is also proving popular. Whilst I am delighted that the shops are proving so popular, the ongoing success of the shops is dependent upon donations from the general public.  Items can be taken direct to the bookshops or any of our other outlets, several of which offer coffee shop facilities.

All monies raised from the shops are used to further develop care services for local older people."
