Age Concern advocates are volunteers, independent and specially trained to work with older people in residential care. - Befriending scheme
The Befriending Scheme is available throughout North West Leicestershire and is for older people who may be lonely or socially isolated and in need of some company and support.
Daybreak scheme
This day care initiative is designed to specifically meet the needs of older people living in rural locations for whom traditional day care would be inappropriate.Direct payments
Direct Payment is money paid to you by your Local Authority so that you can arrange your own care and have the choice, flexibility and control in how your care needs are met.- Daycare services
Our day centres aim to support older people who wish to remain living in the community, but find themselves socially isolated and may require a little additional help.

Can help with house maintenance, gardening work, basic decorating and home security - Homehelp service
Can help with cleaning, ironing, shopping and meal preparation. - Mental health services
A number of services specifically for older people with mental health problems. - Minority ethnic services
Services and support for older people from a wide variety of minority ethnic communities. - Residential and nursing home advisory service
Dealing with the issues involved in moving into a care home. Advice is free of charge and confidential. - Respite service
This scheme, funded by Leicestershire County Council Social Services, allows carers a break and enables them to maintain social activities and friendships. - Wintercare
Practical support and reassurance for older people who may be experiencing difficulties. This service operates from November to March.
